What we allready have done (and are doing) in Jiboro
Jiboro is a small village in the Region Kombo East, in West Coast Region of the republic The Gambia in West Africa and has approximately 3000 inhabitants. It is the center of a number of villages in the near neighborhood and is situated on appr. 25 kilometers distance of the regional capital Brikama and on 75 kilometers from the capital Banjul. The village primarily consists of farmers who cultivate rice, ground nut and maize.
The Care Foundation The Gambia was established in 2000 and has both a Dutch committee and a Gambian committee which work closely together on development projects. CFTG was incorporated in 2000 as a charitable organisation under the Companies Act of 1955, nr.155/2000, and it is also registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 35150552 in 2001. The Care Foundation The Gambia depends on donations from private individuals and gifts and subsidies from trusts and other organisations.
The Care Foundation The Gambia has already set up the following projects:
• A children's sponsorship program, 60 children are sponsored.
• Building a new school kitchen for the Jiboro cycle school.
• Health Care Center with a dental clinic.
• Laboratory.
• Nursing courses
• Skill Center.
• Bakery.
• Supporting and managing the Rainbow Nursery School.
• Jiboro's Women's Garden is set up.
• Contribution of several containers of aid supplies from The Netherlands ( items such as medical equipment, school supplies, second hand clothing)
And now there is a School for children with disabilities. Not only deaf children urgently need education, but also children who have other restrictions. (Click on the 'photos' section of this site)
For example: children in a wheelchair (if they even have one), children who are not able to see well or are blind, children who miss one or two arms and of course all children with a different limitation. At first we started with the deaf children because this group has the largest problem.
They require special teachers who have special skills in order to be able to communicate with deaf children.
These children have never had the opportunity to listen and obey their parents, so they need to be taught to obey. The teacher also had a special training to deal with these children.
It will not be easy, but it is a challenge. A challenge that we accept because we want to give these children a future. It is no guarantee that they will find a job or earn money in the future but their chances are so much bigger when they follow this education.
